Tips for Making the Most of Your Boudoir Session
Here are some things you can do to make the most of your time in front of the camera. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
The term "boudoir" refers to a woman's private bedroom or dressing room, and the images captured in boudoir photography are typically taken in a similar setting. The subject may be posed in lingerie, partially clothed, or even fully nude, but the focus is on capturing the subject's personality, beauty, and sensuality.
Boudoir photography can be done for many reasons. Some women choose to have boudoir photos taken as a gift for their significant other, while others do it as a way to boost their own confidence and self-esteem. Boudoir photography can also be done as a way to celebrate milestones, such as a wedding or a significant birthday.
One of the most important aspects of boudoir photography is the relationship between the photographer and the subject. A good boudoir photographer will make the subject feel comfortable and at ease, and will work with them to create images that capture their unique beauty and personality. Searching for a photographer you can trust and feel comfortable with is very important.
Boudoir photography has become a popular way for women to celebrate their bodies and their femininity. It's a way to embrace and showcase their sensuality and confidence, and to celebrate the unique beauty of their body. Boudoir photography is an art form that requires skill, sensitivity, and a deep understanding of posing and lighting, and the results can be truly stunning.
Boudoir photography has become increasingly popular in recent years as a way for women to celebrate their body, express their sensuality, and capture intimate moments for themselves or a significant other. But what is the point of boudoir photography? In this blog post, we'll explore the reasons why women choose to empower themselves with boudoir photography and the benefits it can bring.
First and foremost, boudoir photography is a form of self-expression. It allows individuals to showcase their bodies in a way that feels empowering and confident. For many, boudoir photography is a chance to celebrate their body and all of it's life milestones it has brought you through. This can be especially meaningful for those who have struggled with body image issues or have felt self-conscious about their appearance.
Another reason people choose to do boudoir photography is as a gift for their significant other. Boudoir photos can be a deeply intimate and personal gift that is meant to be shared with someone special. These photos can be a way to show vulnerability, trust, and love. Boudoir photography can help to reignite the spark in a relationship and create a deeper sense of intimacy and connection between partners.
Boudoir photography can also be a way to challenge societal beauty standards and promote body positivity. By showcasing bodies of all shapes, sizes, and colors, boudoir photography can help to redefine beauty and encourage people to embrace their unique physical characteristics. It can also serve as a way to promote self-love and acceptance.
Additionally, boudoir photography can be a fun and empowering experience. The process of getting ready for a boudoir shoot, selecting outfits, and posing for photos can be a way to boost self-confidence and feel more comfortable in one's own skin. It can be a chance to try something new, step outside of one's comfort zone, and feel empowered by one's own sexuality and sensuality.
The point of boudoir photography is to empower individuals to celebrate their bodies and express their sensuality in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them. It can be a deeply personal and transformative experience that promotes self-love, body positivity, and intimate connection with others. Whether as a gift for a significant other or a personal celebration of self, boudoir photography has the power to transform.
Stepping outside your comfort zone to do a boudoir shoot can be intimidating. Many clients tell me they have never liked having their picture taken, so they can't imagine actually enjoying this experience. Yet, they end up having an absolute blast in the process. Here are a few tips to help you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
1. Choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with and trust. It’s important to find a photographer who understands your vision and can make you feel relaxed and at ease during the photoshoot.
2. Read through all of the prep material your photographer provides. This will help you relax and feel more at ease knowing you did everything you were supposed to do to prep for your time in front of the camera.
3. Communicate with your photographer before the photoshoot to discuss your concerns, insecurities, and any questions you may have. This will help you feel more prepared and confident going into the shoot.
4. Choosing outfits that fit your personal style and you feel amazing in. Choose outfits that flatter your body style and colors that look best on you.
5. Practice a positive mindset and positive self-talk. Remind yourself of your unique beauty and your reason why behind a boudoir experience. This can help boost your confidence and help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
6. Don’t hold yourself back from letting your personality shine through and have fun during the photoshoot. Boudoir photography is not just about looking sexy, it’s also about capturing your individuality and unique beauty. So don’t be afraid to be yourself and let your personality shine through in the photos.
What sets our boudoir photography experience apart?
One common thread I get told from my clients is my ability to make my clients feel comfortable and at ease during their photoshoot. Boudoir photography can be intimidating for some women, so it’s important to me to create a relaxed and judgement-free environment where they can feel comfortable and confident. I also have a unique style and approach to boudoir photography that is both artistic and empowering. I like to capture women in a way that is both beautiful and strong, and that celebrates their individuality and unique beauty.

Beautiful, Boudoir Makeup Looks
You’ve booked your boudoir session and are super psyched about it. You can’t wait to feel like an absolute goddess and be seriously pampered by our hair and make-up team for the day. You are looking forward to sipping on a mimosa and jamming out to your favorite playlist. Sometimes, clients know exactly the looks and outfits that they want and even share their Pinterest vision boards with me. But other times, clients have no idea the look they are going for and can feel overwhelmed with all the details. The clothes, the hair, the poses, and the makeup. Have no fear, I'm here to help guide you through everything!
When it comes to make-up, there are a lot of looks to choose from, but these are the three I recommend for boudoir.
Enhanced Natural Beauty:
If the look you are going for is still looking like you, but an enhanced version—this makeup look is ideal. The camera tends to eat up color, so you will be wearing more makeup than usual. Try a matte natural or nude lip color. Maybe some nude eyes, with fake lashes to help make them pop. After your makeup is finished you will have bright eyes and more of a neutral lip, but you will feel glammed up and beautiful!
Sexy and Dramatic Vixen:
This is your look if you really want to transform yourself into the ultimate glam girl. Maybe you are thinking old Hollywood, retro pin up. Sultry, smoldering, dramatic eyes, and a sexy red lip? Hello beautiful! This look really plays up your eyes, which is perfect because they are the focal point to create so many stunning images.
The Girl Who Wants to Try it All:
Stuck between the different looks? Want to be bold and glamorous, but the sexy and dramatic look is too much for you? Especially when you’ve never done anything like this before. How about somewhere in the middle of these glam looks? Think similar to an enhanced natural look with a neutral lip, but then builds up be more dramatic with a bold lip. This is one of my favorite options as it gives your album a fun transition.
If you have other makeup ideas, feel free to bring them in. The ultimate goal is that you feel beautiful and sexy. I can’t wait to see your gorgeous self.
Maybe you’ve been checking out our website. Maybe you belong to our VIP Facebook group, or maybe your best friend showed you her fabulous, drop-dead gorgeous boudoir photos. You are curious about it.
It would be fun to get dolled up, to put aside the yoga pants and t-shirt and wear sexy lingerie. But it’s a lot of money and maybe you’re worried you won’t look stunningly beautiful. It is an investment in yourself, but one you won’t regret! You will feel and look beautiful. You will feel totally confident, and shockingly—you won’t look awkward at all, in fact, you will wish you had done this much sooner.
Should you take the plunge and book a boudoir session?
Yes, yes, and absolutely yes!!!!
But if I haven’t convinced you yet, there are plenty of reasons why boudoir is definitely for you:
Whether it’s your first anniversary or thirteenth, a boudoir photo album or canvas will make the perfect anniversary gift for your spouse. I can’t possibly think of a better way to spice up things in the bedroom and rekindle your love and passion than images of you looking stunning and super confident. Make him fall in love with you all over again!
Maybe you are getting married in a few months? Boudoir makes a wonderful wedding present for your honey, but also is a great way to celebrate this milestone in your life before you say “I do”. Maybe you are thinking of having a baby soon. Boudoir is a way to celebrate your sexiness before you prepare for motherhood and embrace a whole new kind of sexy. Starting a new job or going through a divorce, or even just newly single? Sure, boudoir is about feeling beautiful, but even more-so, it’s about celebrating the transitions in your life and feeling confident about who you are on the inside and outside.
Weight Loss Journey:
Boudoir is for every body type, regardless of your body size. I truly, in my heart of hearts, believe each and every body type is sexy and beautiful. But if you’ve just gone through a weight loss journey is something to honor your journey. Boudoir is an opportunity to show how far you’ve come and to celebrate your success. It’s an incredible confidence booster to show off that sexy woman that maybe has been hiding for a while.
This is by far my favorite reason for boudoir! We are crazy-busy, badass women, who conquer the world each and every day. But a lot of the times, our needs tend to come last. It can be overwhelming working, taking care of all the people in our lives—it is oh-so easy to put ourselves last. You are beautiful and sexy and deserve to be pampered.
So, what are you waiting for? Let me create the perfect gift for your spouse, boyfriend, or significant other—or maybe just for you. Every woman deserves to feel like the goddess she is. You won’t regret this experience.
Boudoir Client Spotlight
Boudoir changes lives for the better, but many women still feel cautious about the boudoir experience. You may worry that you can’t pull off being sexy, or that it’s too much money for just some professional photos. It could be that you haven’t lost the ten pounds you keep telling yourself that you would before you do boudoir. Whatever your reason may be, all my convincing may not make you feel any less vulnerable about boudoir. But maybe hearing a real person’s experience would enlighten you about boudoir so that you can see for yourself just how beautiful, sexy, and confident it will make you not just feel, but actually be.
This particular client is like so many women I know. Heck, sometimes she’s me too! She is a wife, mother to three kiddos and two fur babies. Not only is she super mom, but also works full time from home. Like so many women, she is always on the go! What I connect to from her story so much is how busy her life is and wanting some much needed “me time.” While the boudoir was originally a b-day gift for her husband, it ended up being a much-needed confident booster. “I wanted to do this so I can be my own hype girl because somehow I lost her along the way.”
She dove in headfirst, her vision for the session was an enhanced natural makeup look, incorporating her hubby’s favorite team with some Braves jerseys, and finish off with a tasteful bodyscape. She said, “After the first picture it was like I found myself. I just felt so good about myself for the first time in a long time.”
It’s moments like these that just make me smile. Not only do I get to take beautiful pictures, but I get to help people find their inner and outer goddess once again. I hope you take the plunge; I can’t wait to watch you shine.
As you can imagine the one area that makes women the most nervous about doing a boudoir session is: What to Wear.
It’s definitely the subject I get asked the most questions about, but don’t worry I am here to help! I send all my clients helpful guides about wear to shop, how to pick pieces for their body type, and even send links to my favorite pieces. But even better, I have a full client closet of beautiful outfits I’ve collected over the years in a variety of shapes, colors, modesty levels, and sizes XS-6X.
If you need a few ideas to get the ball rolling, here are my (and my clients) 3 favorite looks:
My personal favorite is to incorporate each of these looks in this order, so your final album tells a little story (and if it’s for a gift…..leaves their jaw on the floor).

Boudoir sessions aren’t just for women. They are great for couples as well! An experience like this with the love of your life will definitely be something you will never forget. And the images you will end up with will for sure be cherished forever. These types of images not only show the type of bond and love you have physically, but emotionally as well.
Another great thing about couples boudoir sessions is they are great for all personalities!
Let’s assume that you and your significant other is more of the shy type when it comes to PDA. Maybe things get hot in the bedroom, but you would rather keep that part of your relationship private? The beauty of having images like these of yourselves is that you can step a little out of your comfort zone and yet still keep them private. No one other than the two of you have to ever see them or that side of you. It would be like your best kept secret! After all, the only other person that will see them or that side of you is your trusted photographer.
Also, this is great for women who are too intimidated to do a boudoir session. Some women simply are not comfortable letting themselves be vulnerable with their bodies in front of a complete stranger. And that is totally understandable! So having your partner with you during the process would help ease those insecurities and help you let down your guard more. Same thing as moral support basically. Who knows? Maybe this will ease you into boudoir sessions and give you the confidence to do one solo again in the future. Once you see that the experience isn’t so bad after all while having your partner there to help ease your fears, you would feel a lot more confident doing it again in the future.
Now let’s assume that you are a very outgoing couple who is not afraid of PDA and letting everyone see the physical attraction you have with one another. This is PERFECT for couples like you! You will be comfortable in front of the camera and are guaranteed having a good time doing what you do best, giving your partner physical love and affection. And the best part is that you will have images to enjoy and document the whole experience for years to come.
Lastly, almost all relationships go through waves occasionally where their sex life just isn’t what it used to be. Whether it be working different schedules or just long hours in general, kids to take care of and take back and forth to soccer games, etc., or just simply the fact that the spark has seemed to fizzle in the bedroom. A couples boudoir session could just be the key to light that spark back up! It will allow you to take some time to doing something for yourselves as a couple to remind you of that physical bond and attraction you once had. The experience is so unique and fun that you are sure not to regret it. And it could benefit your sex life so much!
Whether you just want to add that extra spark back in the bedroom, or just want to have a little fun while every moment of it is frozen in time by that camera, a couples boudoir session may be just what you need. Not only that, it will allow you to physically see the bond that you share from another point of view. You know what it FEELS like being with your partner and interacting with physical affection. But it is a really awesome thing to be able to SEE the bond through images. It will make you realize just damn hot you are as a couple!
I know what you may be thinking. “Is this a real thing??” The answer to that is, ABSOLUTELY! Is your body in the “ideal” perfect shape? No. But in my opinion, the fact that you are caring a human inside of you does in fact mean that it IS in the perfect shape! Women were built for doing this. This is one thing that we can do that no man can. And it is a beautiful, beautiful thing!
I hear a lot of women who complain how miserable they are when they are full term or how anxious they are to get their body back to normal. Then after the baby is born most seem to actually miss their pregnant body. I think pregnancy affects our hormones and just health in general (nausea, back aches, heartburn, etc.) so much that we don’t even realize what a beautiful thing it is and how beautiful our bodies are.
Every extra pound of weight and every extra curve we gain just solidifies how physically strong we are for being capable of doing something so miraculous. We should try to make some time to embrace the beauty of the process and remind ourselves of just how badass we, as women, are.
A maternity boudoir session is a FABULOUS way to do this! Think about it this way. Ignore the fact that you have extra weight on your body. Focus on the benefits of pregnancy when it comes to your body. For starters, those breasts are filled out nicely and perfectly shaped. Not only that, pre-natal vitamins are GREAT for hair and nails, so they are likely on point. And everyone knows that pregnant women just have that certain glow about them. And lastly, that baby belly! It is such a beautiful thing that will not last forever. This is the perfect combination for a maternity boudoir session!
You can be a mom-to-be and still be sexy! Not only will a session like this give you a confidence boost on those days you are just tired of that body and want it to be over with. But it is also a wonderful way to get gorgeous images of such a special time in your life. It will remind you of how strong you are. It will remind you of the bond that you were making with that child before they even arrived. And that is only something only YOU can do!
Do yourself a favor and take some time during that long pregnancy and treat yourself to a unique experience to get some images that you will be sure to cherish for a lifetime!
